On community connection...
Art in the Park is hosted by The Cafe Welland Park - right in the middle of town and accessible to all. These participatory art sessions run by Two Quarts Arts every 1st (mostly) of the month, are aimed at all generations; kids, adults, families, people looking to make friends and connect with their community. No skills are needed, just enthusiasm and the will to try something new and fun.
On inclusivity...
On My Doorstep Leicestershire have been fortunate enough to attend weekly sessions with Claire for the past four years and the positive impact on the people we support has been clear to see. Many of the people we support find it hard to find creative and expressive outlets, the studio provides a space for them to not only let out their creative expression, but to see it nurtured by Claire and the rest of the team. In my experience, people with learning disabilities often take part in arts and crafts sessions, but this is the first place where our gang are able to participate in artistic expression in a community based environment.

On providing safe and comfortable spaces...
I have been to Claire's workshops for around 8 years. I cannot emphasise or potentially articulate clearly what having an environment such as the one Claire and Lara have created has impacted positively on my life. She has created a space that for me personally feels like a safe, nurturing and loving environment where I have never not felt welcome or encouraged. I experienced a period of poor mental health and was lucky to be able to attend the meditation workshops that Claire hosted and not only do I get to enjoy the little bowls I painted but the meditation techniques are still ones I use to this day. I would not have felt comfortable to engage in something like this had I not already felt such a strong sense of belonging. I truly believe that services such as this are greatly needed in our wider community. Clare is an advocate for the arts and for arts being accessible in all of their forms to us in all of our forms, she is inclusive in her approach and this is greatly needed.

On working with children...
My daughter carried our works experience with Claire. This experience opened her eyes not only to the creation of art but also to how the skills of running a business, customer relations, and resource management are key to becoming a creative. Claire has a wonderfully generous nature, is incredibly perceptive and builds trust with everyone she works with; this is especially important when nurturing a young artist.
